Fan the Flame

There are various ways to use this course:

• Alpha style dinner: couples could be invited to attend a dinner at your church, all seated at tables in their various groups. This would be followed by a 15-minute video presentation and the couples would have approximately 45 minutes of discussion time following the questions presented in the manual. This would also be a time of building relationships and encouraging one another. The venue and tables should be decorated to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.  You could have as many couples as your venue can hold provided they are all in groups of no more than 7 couples and each group should be assigned a leadership couple.
• Home cell format: The alternative method would be to get as many couples as possible running a group in their home. In some cases, this may be more conducive to getting neighbors and friends to attend. The leadership couples do not have to be marriage counselors! The objective is to reach out into the neighborhood, inviting couples to spend 1 night a week for 7 weeks focusing on some keys that will enrich their marriages. It is a time of building relationships and encouragement. If serious marital problems are encountered that they do not feel qualified to handle or would take up too much of their time, the church should provide qualified pastoral support. Although this course is designed to be done as couples together, we feel that we should not prevent one spouse from coming on their own where the other spouse is not prepared to attend. Up to now, these spouses have been excluded and we feel that this course can help and encourage them. Our heart is to break the paradigm that only 1 or 2 couples can be involved in marriage ministry in the church and then only run 2 or 3 courses per year. This is a tool that can mobilize hundreds of couples reaching out into the community.
• Great gift idea. Where couples are unable to participate in a small group, this starter pack can be given as a gift that can truly bless and encourage. We aim to spread this course as wide as possible to bring hope and encouragement to every home. We certainly hope that people who do this course will be challenged and would want to do other courses like Anointed Marriage and Positioned for Blessing etc …

• Workplace application. Many people would love to share principles of marriage and family enrichment with colleagues and this would make an ideal lunch-time opportunity.
• We have endeavored to keep this presentation affordable for everyone. If anyone cannot afford a manual, please feel free to speak to us about subsidizing the cost, but please do not photocopy the manuals!

Project: “Fan the Flame”: 7 sessions over 7 weeks = 49 days

We are inviting churches to take part in this OUTREACH CAMPAIGN.

How? Mobilize as many leaders in your church to take part in a campaign by inviting couples in their area to attend 7 x 1-hour sessions over 7 weeks, as they together focus on and apply principles that can heal, transform and enrich their marriages and families. In this way, we can saturate each suburb and change our communities as these principles are worked out in their lives.

E.g. If you can mobilize 20 groups and each group invites 4 new couples, at the end of 7 weeks, you could add 80 couples to your church. Each Sunday over 7 weeks, speak out about family relationships, e.g. love, forgiveness, etc…

Invite: Home cells, schools, media, businesses, etc to support the campaign.

• Honour God.
• Strengthen and enrich marriages.
• Give our children … hope, peace, security, and happiness.
• Better school attendance.
• Unity in our homes and community that God promises HE WILL BLESS!!
• Increased productivity in the workplace.
• Opportunity for churches to reach out into their communities in a practical way with the love of Christ.
• Multiply your home cells. We believe that the Fan the Flame groups will become new home cells after being together for 7 weeks.

“Super Saturday” Launch: We believe that the best way to launch, motivate and train couples is to run all 7 sessions over a Saturday. It is best to have 4 couples per group. All will watch 15 minutes of the DVD together, then break into groups for discussion. Allow approximately 15 – 20 minutes for group discussion and then 5 minutes for each couple to have a private time together.

We give out prizes at the end of each session to create an atmosphere of excitement and fun e.g. flowers, chocolates, coffee, and cake for 2, dinner for 2, candles, massage oil, etc. This will really motivate the couples to get involved to lead their own group in a 7-week format.  Please do not hesitate to contact us for any information regarding arrangements to organize a Super Saturday.
